Courses include:
Professional Development - examines the art and science of volunteer management. It focuses on leadership styles and the organizational climates in which managers work.
Program Planning - discusses how to establish priorities, strategic planning, and identifying and influencing the environment in which volunteer managers perform.
Organize - Covers job design and description and introduces NOAH, Needs Overlap Analysis in the Helping Process.
Staff - Focuses on such human resource develoment topics as recruiting, interviewing, screening, placing, recognizing and retaining volunteers.
Direct - Covers supervision, diagnosing performance problems from all team members.
Program Evaluation - explores records, reports and assessment tools effective in evaluation and measuring program success.

The Certified Volunteer Manager Program is designed for administrators, directors, managers and coordinators of volunteers and volunteer programs.

This course provides future professionals who seek employment in volunteer-based organizations with basic skills and a comprehensive knowledge of management principles inherent in this work, as well as provide insight for students who will volunteer in such organizations. In addition, issues important to professionals in this field of work will be reviewed and students will reflect on their implications on professional practice.
This course has been taught consistently as part of the curriculum for our 20+ year old undergraduate American Humanics Certificate in Nonprofit Management.
